Reliving the moments

Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Opens New Ward
I'm officially going through my Soldier Ride footage and I now realize why this story touched me to the core of who I am. Because I was around the Soldiers so much, I was able to witness what they have to go through in every day life -- and I felt everything because of that. I felt joy when a Soldier with a physical injury pushed beyond everyday expectations of what they are capable of on the long bike ride. I felt really angry when a Wounded Warrior had to struggle up stairs or when someone stared at them too long. I felt admiration when a Soldier wouldn't let his circumstance diminish his amazing spirit. I felt sadness when my mind drifted to the challenges some of them would always face. But then it also dawns on me. That's why the High Desert Challenge Soldier Ride was held in the sweltering heat of the desert! Because men like the ones I met, have already been through the toughest moments anyone could ever have to face. To conqure the desert was just a reminder to them of what they already know they are capable of.
